Chicago Blackhawks: A Sixty Year History

So some of you have probably seen this book before at Sal's Puck Junk and he actually inspired me to get this book signed by the various former players in this book. I also talked to him about it too.

But first about this book and how it came into my life. I found this book at a Rummage Sale in a local town near me (I also found John Moore gloves there too) and this definitely caught my eye and I HAD to HAVE it, especially when it was only a DOLLAR, but being a old book it was not in perfect condition and had to put down $50 for fixing the front on back cover bindings which will be worth it in the long run to make it last.

I was debating and think about just keeping this book and reading it, think that autographs would ruin the value. Until reading Sal's convention recap and think in a couple years when the old alive alumni eventually pass away it will be cool to look back and see the players I have met and the Auto's will definitely help the value, even though I don't know how many copies exist. I do like the gold and fake plastic leather covering and would LOVE to see a remake of this book in a couple years with today's current players.

The main and eventually goal will be catching all the alive players while the passed away player (what can you do). But this will definitely help when I see the Blackhawks Alumni signing at the UC this year so that will help me with a couple to knock off the list.

So I took this convention to the National Collectors Convention in Rosemont where I got Ed Olcyk and Murray Bannerman.

eBay: Hannu Toivonen

Drafted by Boston Bruins 1st round (29th overall) 2002 NHL Entry Draft

Another ebay pickup for my between the pipes autographed set.

After being drafted high by Boston in 2002 and then being sent to St. Louis I though he was going to have some high potential and have a solid career but that did not last to long as he finished his NHL/AHL career with the Rockford Icehogs at the end of the 2010-11 season. He is still playing now but he has been sent around the european leagues the past 2 seasons.

For me though he will always be known as having the vintage mask paint job with the ears and hair, a style that Steve Shields first had.

eBay: Jeff Glass

Drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the third round, 89th overall, of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Another eBay pickup for my Between the Pipes signed set and teammate to Brian Elliot and Kelly Guard for the Binghamton Senators. He had a bright future but hopefully he has another shot at

For now he plays for HC Sibir Novosibirsk of the KHL and being in the KHL it's hard to send cards far overseas and hope for a nice return.

This makes 41/60 for this set.

eBay: Brian Elliot

I have posted more of a detailed blog when I got him in the Mail. Which can be read here: http://hockeymemorabilia.blogspot.com/2012/04/ttm-brian-elliot.html

I picked this card up online because I tried sending this card in the mail before with no success though he signed my other card and sent a signed photo which was a nice replacement. After research and a comment on another post of mine I found out that the picture is actually of Kelly Guard and not Brian Elliot which makes this an error card.
This now makes 40 out of 60 cards signed from the Between the Pipes set. Which can be seen in my Photobucket down below.
